About Us

The Cake Detective is a NZ charitable trust, established in 2019 by Laura Casey, that provides beautiful, personalised birthday cakes to Waikato children who are experiencing tough times.

Often, these children have experienced abuse, neglect, family violence, serious illness or trauma and are referred to us through agencies such as Waikato Kids In Need, The Child Cancer Foundation, Rainbow Place, Parentline, Waikato Women's Refuge and Oranga Tamariki.

The Cake Detective has so far donated over 400 cakes and continues to provide 7 cakes per week, on average, to disadvantaged children in the Waikato.

Laura donates her time and expertise and ingredients and cake supplies are funded by donations and sponsors.

“Every child deserves to know that they're special, and getting a fancy birthday cake that's just for them is a great way for us to show a child that they matter.” she says.
