We are seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager to lead our team and drive our business to new heights. 

Role Summary: 
As the General Manager, you will oversee day-to-day business operations, maximise profitability and efficiency, provide high-standard leadership, and spearhead business development initiatives. You will contribute to strategic planning, manage budgets, and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.  

This isn't just a leadership role—it's a chance to shape the business, drive further sales growth, and build a high-performing team, all while ensuring alignment with group strategy.  

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Business Operations:?Support Parts and Mechanical managers, achieve sales and gross margin targets, and ensure timely invoicing. 

  • Profitability & Efficiency:?Maximise resource utilisation, improve profit margins, and lead cost-saving initiatives. 

  • Leadership & Staff Management:?Develop a strong, capable team, manage senior staff performance, and promote company culture and values. 

  • Marketing & Business Development:?Identify new markets and business opportunities, support in creating annual marketing plans, and promote CDS's value proposition. 

  • Business Planning & Budgeting:?Contribute to business plans, manage expenditure, and report on budget progress. 

  • Health & Safety:?Lead health and safety initiatives, ensure compliance with safety standards, and maintain safety documentation. 

  • Policy Management:?Ensure company policies are current and adhered to, handle complaints, and implement improvement initiatives. 

 

Qualifications and Experience: 

  • Relevant degree in Business Management or equivalent experience. 

  • At least 5 years of proven management and leadership experience in the heavy transport service and engineering industry at a senior executive level. 

  • Senior management experience in sales management. 

  • Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements. 

  • Proven track record in business planning, budgeting, and high-level performance. 

  • Commitment to high standards of Health and Safety management.

  • Good negotiation skills and customer service skills. 

  • High motivation, energy, discipline, and good presentation skills. 

  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and highly organised. 

  • Excellent computer skills, especially in Microsoft Office suite. 

  • Positive attitude, empowering, and a team player. 

 

Essential Requirements: 

  • Legally able to work permanently in New Zealand. 

  • Class 1 (Car) NZ Driver's license.
