New Zealand briefly celebrated its COVID eradication success, but its recent return tells us the world has changed, permanently. COVID-19 will likely circle the world for years to come. Even then we have to consider the possibility of new strains of COVID, or a completely new virus, creating a permanent state of pandemic.
So, how can we achieve resilience in a post-COVID world? Telling everyone to stay home and closing the borders is economically and fiscally unsustainable, but what it the alternative? ACT Leader David Seymour will argue the Government of New Zealand can and must perform better if New Zealand is to prosper in this new world. It must be better at providing public health, setting the rules of the game, and engaging private sector solutions while getting back onto a sustainable fiscal track as soon as possible. ACT’s 5-point plan shows how.
