Description
Waikato Management School invites you to a free public talk on 21 September with international forensic accountant Amanda Gore, founder and CEO of the Centre for Global Advancement, based in Narobi, Kenya.
Her talk, 'International Money Laundering - Is the System Working?' will discuss how money laundering is being combatted at a national and international level.
Amanda will examine illicit trade, money laundering through casinos, transnational organised crime, and basic money laundering cases through a series of international case studies. She will also provide an analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the current anti-money laundering regime, and how other types of financial investigations are investigated.
A New Zealand national, Amanda qualified as a forensic accountant in 2006 before leaving to work on multi-jurisdictional financial investigations in different regions around the world. She has served as the Deputy Director General for the Botswana Anti-Corruption Agency.
Her work focuses on financial crime and how to leverage financial crime tools and techniques to combat environmental crime, such as illegal logging and wildlife trafficking. She primarily focuses on supporting law enforcement authorities across Africa, Asia and Latin America to conduct financial investigations.
Amanda Gore also teaches as an Adjunct Professor at the University of New Haven, Connecticut on wildlife crime, environmental crime and illicit trade. More recently, she has also worked alongside the University of Nevada, Las Vegas examining how money is laundered through online casinos.
Complimentary drinks and nibbles will be served to all guests from 5.00pm, prior to the talk starting at 5:30pm.
However, seats for this event are strictly limited, so please RSVP with the online registration form below if you wish to attend.
